I recently installed Rockford 4 channel in the space normally reserved for
the Saab amp for the door speakers. It's powering 6.5" component speakers- woofers in the doors, tweeters in the interior triangle trim on the doors (just under the exterior mirror adjustment switch)and crossovers under the dash on the left and under the carpet trim in front of the passenger
door on the right. In the rear it's powering replacement 6x9's.
It was a real challenge creating a mount with lots of tweaking, trimming
and building custom brackets. The air distribution cable is the big obstacle to clear. The end result- a good amount of clean power with zero trunk room sacrificed. It took a long time but I use my trunk a lot and didn't want to worry about amps and wiring bolted to the back seat.
If you don't already have the door speakers installed, it makes a world of difference bringing the sound stage forward.
