I just got home from the GM Auto Show In Motion here in Houston and to sum it all up in a word....Z06. That vette is amazing, especially when you have a professional race car driving instructor on your right. I made use of most of the 405 horses in 2nd gear straight-a-way while pinned back in the seat, then into hard cornering, and a smile on my face.

Other cars I got to drive:

2004 Saab 9-3 Convertible (210 HP version) - Great fun car, had the auto tranny with manual function, kind of cool but not the same as stick.

Saab 9-5 Aero - Awesome sport seats really hug you. Love the 2.3 and manual tranny. Now I get a sense of what you Viggen owners rave about.

Hummer H2 - neat toy if you have somewhere to drive it and lots of $$$$. Their course had a 45 degree bank and I swear in anything else I would have rolled.

Cadillac CTS - Manual shifter felt funny, but fun and spirited ride. I got yelled at by GM guy in this one because an old guy in the Aero in front of me was doing about 5mph around the track and I got within 3-4 car lengths while slowing down around an aggressive corner. He was half way around the track when I started.

Lexus RX300 - Nice smooth ride but I'm not a big fan of SUVs, this one was a pre-requisite to drive the H2.

Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - Overrated, horribly ugly on the inside. Had manual shift button sticking up on the steering wheel and to downshift you need to push the shift button from behind the wheel towards you. Had the heads up display which was nice, so did the vette.

Rode in a Buick Regal - Co-worker's wife wanted to check it out. Some kind of fancy designer did the interior and mixed dark brown on tan leather. Not good.

Overall great experience and did I mention IT'S FREE!!! Even got free food and a T-shirt out of it. Props to GM for this one, they had NO SALESPEOPLE of any kind there, just people to answer questions about the cars and get you in the ones you wanted to drive.

And at the end of the day I returned home in my 9-3SE, satisfied.

Eric
