Have you ever noticed that some instructions recommend you change BOTH left and right headlight bulbs at the same time? That's probably because any bulb will lose intensity with age (engineers, help me out. I think it has to do with a drop in the pressurized gas and/or deteriation of the filiment).

I noticed this over the years, when replacing just one bulb. The new bulb was ALWAYS significantly brighter when compared to old bulb. So when comparing bulbs, it's only far to compare bulbs of the same age.
