Hey I spent 6 years in Rochester, NY. The winters are no joke!
On to the problem. I have experienced similar problems with my Turbocharged Eagle Talon. If you are getting this hesitation when accelerating it could be a loose coupling on your intercooler piping.
The idea is that you are leaking air somewhere and when you try to get into boost it blows out through a hole somewhere. To much fuel for the ammount of air and hesitation, black smoke, etc.
Try checking and tightening all the hoses and clamps.
A faulty turbo would NOT cause jerking or anything like that.
Dead turbos just dont boost.
