I have a question. I just got back from the dealer and they told me my Turbo was fortunately going to be covered under warranty. Every week or so I would get a small puff of blue smoke out of the tailpipe upon startup and I figured I would ask just before my warranty was up (at 50k miles). Lucky I did so!
So I was driving back home after the repair last night and went to try out the acceleration. It went fine in first gear, but then I went into second and the turbo guage went all the way to the top of the red and it was like someone threw an anchor out the back - the car stopped accelerating rapidly and it was *not* anywhere near redline. Any acceleration thereafter was much poorer with the turbo going only midway into the yellow. The dealer is going to take another look at the car on Monday.
I have this sinking feeling that I am going to hate this car shortly. They tell me that the job was over $1000 and if the turbo goes again in 800 miles that it will be my responsibility.
Any clue what has happened here? Maybe a stuck popoff valve or something? Have I destroyed the turbo?
