After my first day with my new J&R filter, I started to realize that enhanced performance associated with the improved air flow was achieved at a cost, namely a reduction in the size (micron) of effective particle filtration - (familiar with bio-chem countermeasure products). Given that oil treated and/or foam filters as a matter of simple physics can not allow for increased air flow and still capture the very smallest (but still just as deadly to an engine in the aggregrate)airborne particulants and that these abrasive and corrosive particulants end up in the engine and the oil regardless of how many time you change or clean the drop-in sport filters and that the volume of particulant mass in the engine or oil is not dependent upon the type of oil or synthetic you elect to utilize.

Thus the motor oil will more quickly become laden with abrasive particulants at faster rate than would be tha case with a standard more restrictive paper air filter. Arguably then, oil change frequency must be increased to compensate for the poorer filtration if prolonged engine life is desired. This would be especially true in climates with high acidic particulant content(chemical plants, agricultural areas, refineries, mines, heavy metal manufacturing areas (smelter and mills)and places like Los Angeles and Mexico City and all the locations down wind of such places such as upstate New York and Northern New England where acid rain has destroyed or damaged fresh water ecosystems.

I would like to know if (1) you agree with my reasoning and if not, why and (2) if you do agree, what maintenance adjustments would you recommend for oil change and filter cleaning frequencies so as to compensate for the increased risk of premature engine wear?

Many thanks and I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but merely trying to understand the risks inherent in the utilization of sport filters.
