I now have a personal story I can add to this post; I didn't when I posted the last time on Part 1. Monday night I was involved in a pretty bad crash myself. The car was my friend's 1998 Chrysler T&C minivan. The other car was an old Ford Aerostar minivan. The guy the the Ford crossed the middle of the road and drove straight into us, head on. We were going about 30-35mph, he was going a little faster. Guess what I noticed after I woke up (yes we blacked out)? The controls for the heater and A/C had flown off into the back seat (the far back seat actually), and the radio popped out. The dash was pushed back toward us and the footwells crunched up. Now, the total of the speeds in this case was about 70mph. Your wife's was 125mph. Same thing happened in the Chysler as in the Saab at a MUCH lesser speed. I don't have pics, because it isn't my car, but I can assure you that the inside looked almost as bad as your Saab's did. Both of our seats rotated forward and down slightly, and the firemen even pointed that out to me. You could easily rock them like a rocking chair. This minivan, by the way, is/was the most popular one in the US.
When I was medically evaluated following the crash, the doc told me that I was lucky to be, not only not seriously hurt, but alive. He informed me that he has seen patients in head-ons of less speed who were killed. As for me, I now suffer from some very painful torn muscles and ligaments and, of course, whiplash.
To end my babbling, I just wanted to show that the damage suffered by a Saab rather small-sized car @ 125mph, was very similar to that suffered by a bery large van @ 70mph. Stick with Saab. Do yourself and your wife a favor and get another Saab, maybe one with ACC so the controls don't fly off.
