I own a ng 900 and my dad owns a '99 9-3 SE. Since, He bought the car in August of 2001, he has had a number of things go wrong. The flex pipe got a hole in it due to my speeding on a backroad. The center muffler rusted out. The airbag light came on, which resulted in a bad wire to the side airbags. That cost 100, but it is certified, so it was free. The climate control pixels went out, so that was replaced. A rim was replaced as it was cracked after hitting a horrid pothole. The Sid display is being replaced Monday as well as a transmission mount. Even after switching to synthetic oil at 75,000 miles, he has never experienced a drop of oil. The battery has also been replaced. Personally, I expect he will need shocks and a new DI casette shortly after 100,000 miles. He currently has 85,000. The car has been overall good, yet not as reliable as his past cars. He drove Saturns before which super reliable. But, who wants a Saturn? It left him stranded once, and that was when the batey failed. My Uncle also has a 99 9-3SE which has been super relible. He has a Check engine light due to a small fault in the fuel system. My Ng900 has been a different story. It's ignition switch has failed as well as it's water pump. Soon, I will need new struts, shocks, and front brakes. Expensive stuff. I find that Saabs can be eithe totally trouble free or they have waves of problems and wear items. Like, you may need several things at 50,000 miles an then not need anything till 100,000 miles. Just how it goes I guess. Hope this huge message gave you some insight.
