The tech in missoula seems to think it may also be altitude related. The 2000 he is working on now went south in a big way coming over a mountain pass. Luckily the owner shut it down and had it towed to the shop and needs only pistons.
I'm pretty sure my problem was caused when my DI cassette started to fail about a month ago. I drove it with a bad DI for two weeks because the replacement I bought also had problems.
Get the latest software upgrade from Saab as it is easier on the DI and make sure you have the latest DI Cassette. My 99 Viggen had an older part number that has been superceeded.
