Question for Dean

I am installing my 3.5” Infinity Kappas this weekend. I have reviewed your excellent instructions on the 9-5 board and have a couple of questions. First can I use spade connectors to connect the crossover wires to the factory wires? I have not taken it apart yet so I have not looked at the connectors. Finally, I remember reading in one of the posts about removing some plastic parts from the speaker to clear the grills. Are they the plastic parts on the top to the speaker next to the cone?
Thanks in advance for your help and great directions.
