We still like our '99 9-3 base - a lot Posted by JohnA [Email] (#426) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JohnA) on Thu, 11 Nov 2004 19:21:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a 131K km (black) 4-dr Calgary car.
Nothing special added. 3 drivers.
Two sets of Kumhos. (15"/16") Winters (15") on plane Jane rims.
A K&N filter. An el Cheapo, lifetime guarantee, 'performance muffler'
at the tail as commutes are short and the car is driven in the city
too much. A stainless steel exhaust tip looking for all the world
like a larger Viggen tip.
Waxed twice a year and keeping on top of winshield chips as these
arise. 2 small door dings. Two insignificant scratches. All gravel
chips fixed annually.
Too many sets of brakes (rotors and pads) with no luck on Greenstuff
to deliver on the longer-life prospect.
Oil changes (Mobil 1) at 6K km intervals +/- with various filters.
(I should have bought by the case from the US.) Two replaced oil
plugs as mechanics tend to the over-zealous with the torque.
Zero squeaks except the obligatory warm-up front squeak in cold weather.
New bushings on the front.
An antenna that won't go all the way down. Occasional CD sticking
in the machine, esp when warm. No loss of pixels on the dash computer.
Original DI cassette. 2 batteries. New plugs, self-installed,
probably annually. Zero a/c work.
On the whole, good value, multi-use, transportation but would rather
have a 9-5 Aero wagon, still.
Next car - another Saab.
