Same engine. You do not need to touch the starter.
Does that switch work right now?
Maybe it only needs to be tighened up.
Leaks from HG or VC or oil spilled at filler can run down and confuse the issue.
If the mechanic is wrong, or not quite honest about the starter issue, perhaps the conclusion that the switch is leaking is also suspect.
Nothing better than doing things yourself as far a knowing the truth goes.
