As usual, the installers fear what they don't know. :) It's very easy to install an aftermarket deck. Taliaferro Saab sells the installation kit, which includes a 2/3 DIN pocket that fits above the radio, and a wiring harness. The SID won't have any problems as long as you don't try to hook anything up to the bus wires. Wiring diagrams are in Richard Bevan's NG900/9-3 Audio FAQ in Saabnet's FAQ section. You'll probably lose your steering wheel radio controls, but there are adapters out there if your deck is remote capable. Lastly, OnStar doesn't have a thing to do with the radio. If you have door speakers, you'll have to make up an adapter cable so you can run the external amp off of your JVC. It's pretty simple with Richard Bevan's instructions and an 8-pin DIN plug. That was my first soldering project, and it came out pretty well!
