First things first, will you have problems? As compared to a Honda or Acura, definitely yes. Will quirky things happen? YES. Just check this board out and you will find squeeky brakes, creaking in the cold, Direct ignition cassette failures, SID display failings, blue smoke coming from the exhaust, and other problems. Of course you will see many things people like as well, space, the turbo, the fold down seats, style, and performance.
I would say the back seat is a bit cramped, the front is not. Driving is pretty fun, and it wont be as a generic a car as the honda or acura. If you can get the SE version you will get some more features and a bit more Horsepower.
I would definitely get one with a warranty though, or if you are buying from the dealer, get it certified. I've had a a slew of warranty issues and the car only has 38k miles (from getting the black trim tape replaced due to bubbles in them to getting the turbo replaced recently, (ps the dealer said the turbo would have taken 4 hours of labor at 115$/hour plus whatever the parts would be), it is a 2000 9-3 base. The dealers take care of stuff very quick and at no cost to you and you can get loaner cars from them.
To be honest, I wouldnt buy one unless it had a warranty with it.
Also, the car is great in the snow with proper tires.
Good luck.
