CPO info and a 9-5 you say? In a Consumer Reports 4 way test, Acura TL, Lexus ES330, Volvo S60 and Saab 9-5, the 9-5 came in for it's share of criticism for things I actually like about the car, but the Saab was a recommened buy. Consumers Reports reports recently knocked the 9-3s for intitial quality, and practicly every other European car in it's class too, but the 9-5 continues it's recommend CU rating.
It's a wonderful world when a consumer mag says it's OK to buy a Saab in a heads up test and because of the outstanding reliability and customer satisfaction ratings.
That doesn't take away from a 9-3, but to say a NG9-3 sedan from 99-2002 is an antiquated design is not totally unfair and again one of things to like about the car. Luxury, performance, practicality, quality and real good reliability although not as good as a 9-5 are all up to snuff for luxury cars.
And any Saab always offers a measure of safety and individuality that's priceless.
If you're new to Saab than a CPO assures that you get a car from the dealer who knows them (that doesn't always imply total competence) has done extra inspections, service and grooming and comes with a zero deductible Saab factory warranty for an extra 2 years and 50,000 miles bring total coverage to 6/100.
A CPO is a good value all by itself as a warranty. A dealer can always de-certfy a vehicle and save you the $1,200 ish, but as I said, that's a very reasonable price for the excellent warranty coverage.
