Removed rear caliper, Dean was right

I followed Dean's instructions from the NG900 board (search on drs<underscore>install) for removing the rear calipers and rotors. He said use a 6 point socket, not 12 point and he's right. The bolt heads were small for 19 mm, there was excessive play. SAE 3/4" was worse. I grabbed a 12 point 19 mm socket and it slipped a notch before it budged. The fit was so poor that the rounding of the head was minimal and I was able to sucessfully loosen and tighten that bolt with the 6 pointer.
Listen to Dean, his is the voice of experience. If he says use a 6 point socket, don't risk rounding a bolt head by using a 12 point. I've never seen such a loose fit. At first I thought it might be smaller than 19 mm but there's no other common size that's close. All my socket sets skip 18 mm and jump from 17 to 19. I can't remember any of the other fasteners having such poor tool fits. Any ideas what's going on here? Could they be 18 mm?
I followed the rest of Dean's instructions with no problems. Thanks for providing them!
