This is a possibility it has something to do with the problem you have. Ckeck to see if your alternator is overcharging and that your battery is in good order. Easy to check start the engine, get a digital voltmeter and check the voltage at the battery. It should not be more then 14.4V. Overcharging is caused by faulty alternator and if let unfixed can destroy the engine electronics, electrics and the battery. A faulty battery can also have the same effect if not fixed in good time. Check this before investigating the relay. Main Relay can be found under the steering wheel trim on a NG900, I suspect 9-3 will be the same. The owners manual may have a description where the relays can be found. On NG900 SAAB supplies screwdriver in the toolkit that allows you to remove the special screws holding the trim. The mechanicals and electrics of 9-3 are very similar to NG900 so the Haynes Manual for NG900 is a good reference in the absence of any other manual. Someone here may be able to point you where you can find a CD that covers information about your car.
