2002 9-3SE.
I was on I69 at night. The car was pretty new (purchased in June. The time was ~Nov) It was the 1st time I had the car very very low in gas (but refilled to 1/4 to 1/3 full), and it was probably one of the first cold temperature drive I had. The thing I noticed was that the gas gauge was sticking to the bottom even though I pumped $10 (~$1.20/gal back then) just 15 minutes ago.
Then all of a sudden, at ~75mph my SID show DTE = 0, my gas gauge and other gauges needles all drop, followed instantly by all the lights (external and internal) going off. At that time, I was alone on the road (late sunday night), I instantly let off the gas and shift to neutral and restart the keys. (I was at least 100% sure it wasn't me bumping the key and turning off the car, as the lights would stay on) I cannot say for sure whether the engine stopped turning, but the car's lights all came back on instantly after I restarted the key turn, and I stayed on the road driving and maintaining over 60mph. The whole ordeal started and ended within 2-3 seconds. (I guess I was used to stalling and restarting on the go from my years of driving an old Honda with manual transmission and a carburator in Canadian winters... ;-)
Since it was cold, and i was tired (driving over 3 hours from Toronto), I didn't stop the car on the side of rural Michigan to check under the hood. I did turn off all fans and stereo to listen for noise, and varried the throttle, brakes, and steering to make sure there were no funny noises, etc. The car drove fine to this day.... 60K miles later.
(well, there was that DI casette failure at ~20K, but that was probably not related...)
