Okay, I've done some reading up, so here's what I've got, tell me if you need me to check more stuff.
1999 9-3 SE HOT 60k
MP Steering Rack Clamp And Brace (installed this winter)
This JUST started today. I only noticed it this afternoon with the radio off or turned down low. And it's not cold here at all, right now it's almost 70 degrees F.
I have a semi-loud creaking when I turn the wheel even slightly left and right at low speeds. I did the scrub test, and there was little to no motion in that bolt that is in the middle of both strut towers as I moved the wheel.
However, when I reached out and put my hand on the driver's side strut tower as I was turning the wheel back and forth, I could feel the vibration as it made the noise. I'm not stretch armstrong, so I couldn't put my hand on the passenger side to see if it does the same.
I can hear the sound clearer in the cabin than in the engine compartment, even during the scrub test. But I can hear it in the engine compartment during the test, I just can't locate it... only feel it.
I looked at the suspension components on both front wheels (ball joints, bushings, etc), and everything looks perfectly healthy. Nothing was distorted or broken or anything that I could see on either side.
Could this be strut mounts? If it is, I'll replace them when I install the eibach pro-system. Also, if it is, I can't locate the KYB mounts Dean spoke of on Tirerack. Anyone have another good source? Would it help if I posted pictures of anything(if so, what?)?
