PM: I think you should DEFINITELY do the high mileage treatment. At least 2 bottles, maybe three. And I would definitely use the larger filter; go to Walmart and get several FL1A's. Or, if you have a Kragen/Checker/Schucks near you, you can get 2 FREE Bosch oil filters (after rebate). Get the Bosch 3500 (that's the FLIA size).

I neglected to mention in my earlier post that I had been running a K&N air filter, which I have removed from the vehicle after I 'felt' the small sand-like/gravel-like stuff that came from the car after the AutoRx treatments. I drained the oil, left it in the pan overnight, covered with cheesecloth and then a box over that some nothing would get into it. Then I poured the oil into another receptacle (slowly), and I could see and feel the accumulated sand-like particles. They weren't metalic, although there was evidence of some gold-like (brass?) extremely small piecesin the mix. These weren't evident after the second rinse oil cycle. Perhaps some wear material was just stuck in the "sludge" for lack of a better word, the finally was released by the AutoRx.

I can't stress enough how much of the sand-like stuff there was in the bottom of the drain pan after both rinse cycles. A thin, but very definite amount, apparent both visually and tactilly.

I would NEVER use a K& N or similar type air filter again. And yes, I had a good seal at the air filter. The car has just lived it's life in very dusty regions (Boulder, Coloroda, and for the last 20 months, Rancho Cucamonga California).

See if you can confirm my silt finding!
