I will try to provide as much feedback and documentation as I can for other people if time allows. I kept the last oil filter used before I started, sent a sample in for oil analysis, took some pics, recorded the engine idling.

I was planning to compare when done. I can try to strain the oil, and use a magnet on whatever I get, like the old days, but that is not always conclusive either. Could be just carbon from the engine, or oil coking up in the turbo, too. Getting a bit OT here, I will give this some thought and send you an email. Hard to believe your air filter was at fault, but who knows... I will upgrade the filters I am using during the cleaning, thanks for that suggestion!
