As a NG900 (or a 1999 9-3, not Viggen) it would indeed be a T5.
I wish I had a baseline (ex. Dyno) to compare where I am now, but seat of the pants tells me this thing really pulls, and the addition of the HOT box did create some of this feeling. Saab's own specs indicate that the HOT 9-3 delivers max power (200) at 5500 RPM and torque is increased from 194 (2100-4600) to 209 (2300-4600). Of course, I may be "expecting" the increase, but its definately there - passengers have commented. The HOT box appears to increase the low end, and smoothes out that increase. The boost is also raised, as I now get almost halfway into the red, where the stock box would only get me near the edge. This is where the benefit lies, as the 15 extra ponies would not be that much of a difference (although it is an 8% increase - significant in some businesses) as nickR indicates.
Perhaps it helps in that it is closer to the "programming" I should have with the other "mods" currently in place. I may remove the HOT box (as I have been planning) and put the stock one temporarily in its place to see if there is a difference, or if it's all perceived. This would probably be the best way to check.
Next up for me is shocks, Viggen IC, DIC, and custom ECU in some order. As mentioned, I respect everyone's comments. I understand the "tuned" ECU will truly provide me with the proper programming, but with the HOT ECU I was able to accomplish a couple of things. It allowed me to determine if an aftermarket ECU would be on my short list, allowing a stop-gap in the meantime until I got the other $600 to spend after all other mods; gives me a second ECU, so I can send mine away to be adjusted, thus not rendering the car inoperable while waiting for programming to be completed; probably most important is that it helped me to contribute something (semi-)original to this site that has not been done by all.
Thanks for everyone's help. Good luck.
