Remove and check the PCV valve carefully, and verify it is working as a one-way check valve.
I did not want to touch mine because it should have been checked by someone else, and it has a reputation for breaking off in your hand. When I finally got around to replacing it, it was blown. Reason why this is a big deal: The crank case ventillation system contributes to the various oil issues. If the check valve is not working, the valve cover is pressurized during boost, instead of vented through the larger hose to the intake. For around $15 I really think it should just be replaced every 30k.
Biggest item I missed at 90k was not making sure the timing chain tensioner was removed and the tensioner extension measured.
Not sure why mechanics are reluctant to do this. When I finally did it myself recently at 105k miles, I found the chain was so stretched the tensioner was past the last click. Took all of twenty minutes to take out and measure. Until the tensioner is at the end of its adjustment range, the chain will always seem tight on the sprockets if you inspect it from under the valve cover. Now I will have to look for pieces of plastic chain guide in the sump...
Power steering leaks. Easy to miss, because they start out as little damp spots under crimp joints between hoses and hard lines, below the power steering fluid reservoir, and at the firewall.
