Oh yes another DIC Question...

We all talk about the DIC failure relative to mileage, but what about age? I am about to do a 1500 mile drive in the 99 Viggen which has been in service since 5/1999. The car only has 41K miles. I was thinking of getting a spare before the trip, but at 41K I could probably go without it and I would rather save the $250, especially since I am under warranty until 5/2005.

Which brings up a follow-up question -- what happens if my DI goes and I put in my replacement and go to the dealer with the failed one out of the car -- are they going to cover it since I obviously pulled it out myself? Reasonably they would just give me a new one, but I could also see a dealer making a stink about it. Thoughts?
