Clicking in the rear driver-side wheel well...redux Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Wed, 29 Jun 2005 12:51:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted earlier that I have a metal clicking coming from the rear driver side wheel. Here is an update and more questions.
I removed the wheel and poked around and couldn't see any cracks in the spring, the caliper seemed ok also. SeeVTSaab suggested the lugs, but I retorqued them. Well the problem is still there.
What I originally thought was that this was a stuck caliper since it occured when braking. Now I'm driving constantly with my head out the window and it seems to be suspension related. It's possible that road and wind noise muffle the sound at speed. The sound is a metal in origin. It doesn't seem to occur with any rotational frequency. Smooth roads and rough roads seems to make the noise although it's most pronounced on rough roads. Speed bumps don't reproduce the sound.
If this is suspension related can I replace just the rear components or should both front and rear be worked on shortly after one another? If so, I've been leaning for Koni sports front and back, but have recently thought of the Bilsteins. I'm leaning toward Intax springs and new bushings from Genuine Saab, also. Does anyone have experience with MP's aluminum bushing?
For what it's worth I've not replaced anything with regard to the suspension yet.
Thanks in advance.
