97' 900 SET 5-spd 114k
After changing the tranny oil to saab synthetic manual transmission oil, putting the car into reverse bangs and grinds when the car is on. WHen off it seems to go in fine, which is what i do right now. When shifting to 3rd gear if you don't wait a second or two it will grind, but slightly nothing like reverse, kinda like a quick grind. Other gears seem fine most of the time except at high rpm's they seem to stick or hesistate going in. Also, after i changed the tranny oil there is a lot more play at the beginning of the clutch pedal and the clutch engages near the floor, unlike before w/ some play and clutch pedal engaged about half-way of its travel.
This seems to me that the synchros aren't doing their job. Before I found the real tranny drain, I loosened a bolt at the front/middle of the tranny, but just loosened it a little, then tightened it back up. I didn't take it out causing it not to be aligned w/ the bracket, so that should not have messed w/ anything.
I really don't want to have to take any of my saabs to an indy for the first time and waste a bunch of money that could be used for future parts. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened? What should i do? I want to go back shifting normal and using my turbo :). Thanks in advance for your ideas.
