Most folks install a second battery to support the demands of a powerful stereo setup.
The batteries are chained + to + and - to -. HOWEVER>>>>>
You should also install a battery isolator between the two batteries to ensure that your primary (starter) battery is always fully charged. Otherwise, your primary battery might get drained trying to charge the secondary.
A basic isolator is a soleniod that only allows current to flow to the secondary battery when the engine is in operation.
Fancier units sense the voltage in the primary battery and only couples additional batteries when primary battery voltage exceeds a specified level(usually above 12V).
