Well I can tell you from my experience now..as I have my engine apart and am in the process of cleaning and repairing two bad rod bearings that yes it does happen like that..I was driving back from DC to home and pow...engine making all sorts of noise...I have photos of all the metal and gunk in the oil pan and of whats left of my rod bearings..if your interested...I changed my oil every 3-4000 and have and do have a few saabs so know what to expect..except this...email me if you would like photos or any information I have gained in this experience..
