If one can find the leak on the outside, it might be possible to find the source on the inside, but could be difficult. It would be easy to seal the leak. Use epoxy glue and rub it into the flaw with a layer of poly film over your index finger. Wipe off the excess and let it cure before replacing the tire and pressurizing. Given the difficulty of all of that, I would first clean off the wheel and id the location of the leak on the outside, then release pressure and remove the valve from the valve stem, then attempt to force epoxy into the source of the leak, and remove all of the excess etc. If that works great, if not, you are back at the beginning and nothing has been lost.

Use an epoxy with a 30 minute working life. You need to have things cleaned up before it gets thick and sticky.

Pressure cast wheels are an improvement as are forged and other variations.

Cast aluminum has often been referred to or defined as a collection of holes held together with aluminum. Often aluminum castings are soaked or cooked in a water based solution that penetrates the holes and blocks them with chemical reaction products. Antifreeze products are designed to do the same thing.
