The front side is simple, two relatively easily accessed clamps, as you've heard. The backside is difficult because they sit between the engine and firewall, just above the shifter mechanism. On my '900SE V6, SAAB installed the clamps from below, which meant that they were oriented to be tightened from below; you had to be beneath the car to get to the clamps.
If that is the case with your car, instead of jacking the car up, park it with the front wheels on a curb, speedbump or the likes, to gain a bit more clearance.
If that is not the case with your car, simply crawl on top of the engine bay and reach down from above.
Either way, you shouldn't spend more than an hour draining the cooling system, removing the clamps and swapping the hoses.
