1999 SAAB 9-3 130k miles
Well I bought mine when it had 113k miles on it and so far I have replaced the water pump, all of the coolant hoses, the fuel filter, the thermostat, and the di cassette along with the spark plugs. Although that sounds like a lot, everything was replaced under preventative maintenance except for the water pump, but the water pump gave me plenty of warning before it actually went out (bearings made really loud sound. I've had this car for a total of two years now, and I love it, it's been reliable enough for me. About the check engine light though, that could come on for hundreds of reasons though, you should see if the person selling it is nice enough to let you run it by auto zone to get the cel checked for free. As for the price, I paid $6000 for mine, you might wanna try to talk her down if you can, especially since the cel is on, I think the kelly blue book value of those is about $7000 in excellent condition, and the cel being on doesn't necessarily mean it's in excellent condition. Well good luck on whatever you decide though.
