Another happy quick oil change customer? Sorry to hear about your ordeal.
I wish I could get the message through to customers what they get (or actually don't get) at the quick lube places.
I get several phone calls asking about the price for an oil change and when I say around $50.00 they either hang up or say that they can get it cheaper elsewhere.
Quick lube technicians (and I use technician loosely here) beleive that the aluminum pan is soft enough so no drain plug washer is needed, or they reuse the old washer so many times that it is mushroomed out to oblivion.
But at least, the oil change was "cheap"
It is also emergency oil plugs out there that use a threaded bolt and a T-handle with a larger rubber plug on the outside.
You insert the T-handle and bolt in through the drain hole and pull it tight with the larger rubber seal against the oil pan. The seal might be big enough to cover the crack.
