Say you're in my shoes. You have an engine that has been driven for short trips in cool weather for part of its life. I'd guess it has some level of sludge.
You have auto-rx in the garage ready to be used.
Would you use the auto-rx or pay a few hundred to have the pan dropped and pickup tube cleaned?
And even then... do you clean the pan/pickup and you're done?
Or do you drop/clean the pan/pickup and then do auto-rx and thus clog the pickup again with crud?
Or do you do the auto-rx and THEN drop/clean the pan/pickup and just hope that you make it through.
This isn't an easy decision.
