If stiffness lasts more than 4 hours....... Actually a stiff clutch may last 10-20-50k or indefinitely. Yea, it might me a little stiff, but does it slip or chatter? These are additional reasons a new clutch might be needed, but if it's just a little stiff, I'd wait and see.
Cluctch test is slip best detected in higher gears. Power brake in gear in 5th at mid rpms on the freeway, maybe up a hill, 2,000-4,000 revs and see if you can get the tach needle to soar a little. "Dump the clutch" into 3rd or 4th gear, does the cluctch immediately hook up or can or hookup be mushy?
Clutches seldom fail castrophically with bad results. Normally at some point they just won't engage effectively or disengage effectively. Requiring a tow truck ride, unless you're really good and can horse a car around without a clutch.
