First off, thank you for bothering to read. I used to own '80s gen 900 turbos, but didn't know anything about them but loved them dearly. My last car was a 2000 Cavalier Z24 5speed, which I modified and did my own repairs on. I just bought a 100k mile 5 speed '97 900 SE 2.0 turbo for $4k (good deal!) and have a bunch of questions.

1. the clutch is EXTREMELY stiff, is this normal? I mean the tranny was a little sloppier than I expected but the clutch is just really hard to push in compared to most. Is it adjustable in that aspect?

2. How long should I let the car run for after pushing it hard, I've heard if you don't run a turbo car for a few minutes it can damage the turbo.

3. Do all H-series engines sound a little like they have an exhaust leak? it sounds like a diesel or something and my cav's 2.4 didn't even sound as constantly bogged down or dirty, my old old saabs did but they wre 200k+ miles.

4. When I leave the clutch engaged and let off all pedals so the car is decelerating, I get this subtle whining/grinding sound... is this normal? What should I inspect?

5. How imperative is it that I run synthetic oil?

Should the following things be of any worry:

1. wetness on turbo piping after running (see pic)

2. oil near what looks like exhaust camshaft end (see pic)

3. boosts slightly into red on 93 octane until mid-high rpms then comes back down, seems like it should stay up at high rpm?

And what can I do about this? (see pic)

Thanks a ton, and I will have tons more questions/memories as time goes on.
