Have you done the recalibration routine (AUTO+OFF)? Some problems will return an error code. But just running onceor twice it can sometimes realign the various bits inside and get them back in spec.
The motor that changes the air routing is in the center console behind the ACC unit. It looks like a small round disk (with an electrical connector) installed vertically - meaning as you look straight into the console facing the front of the car with the ACC unit pulled out of the way and its round face is facing you. If you remove it the motor (2 screws), you can manually move the linkages with a screwdriver inserted in where the motor's shaft went to see if anything is binding. You can get to that stuff by removing the side panel in the (LHD) passenger's foot well and then pushing the ACC unit out from the back to let you get at the motor.
There are a lot of old posts on this general topic by me and others, so doing a search on "stepping motor" may help you find them.
Good luck.
