Based on what you say, it seems the repairs are nearly worth the cars value... has the insurance co. said anything to you about totaling the car? Even if the repair is less than its value, there is a risk of further repair/issues, or safety issues with a repaired bumper. (even if they total it, you may have the option of buying back at salvage value).

Since it is rear end damage, I assume you were not at fault. If you want the car totaled... press the insurance co. on it claiming safety issues of a repaired bumper on such an "old / high milage" car, how you are not comfortable with said repairs, and how such a repair will impact resale value.

If they do total it, make sure they give you the retail value of the car and not trade-in or private party... and make sure they give you sales tax and fees, plate transfer, etc... you want/need to be made "whole"... ie. to replace the exact car now would not cost you a dime out of pocket to do so.

The next question is how is rest of the car mechanically... ie if you hadn't had the accident, how much longer would you have kept the car. If you feel comfortable, after the repairs, and the car is "keepable", keep it... you know the car and how its been maintained... you'll never find that in another used car.
