During my search for my Viggen I drove a couple of Viggen CVs and I found them down right scary! Not just 'cowl shake' but cowl torque twist'. Under heavy acceleration it felt like the dash was moving in the opposite direction of the seat!!!
From all of the bits out there, including the VRK, far as I can tell, only the 6 point brace, and perhaps GS's front strutt brace (seems to have disappeared from their catalogue again) would have an impact on correcting this weakness in the chassis design.
The steering rack clamp and brace are great products, but deal more with torque steer then chassis stiffening. Besides, I would think that the chassis on CVs is weakest from the firewall back to the rear wheels (where the extra bracing of the roof hass been removed) thus transmitting more energy, such as that from the steering rack, to the firewall, may amplify the feeling of lack of structural integrity.
The larger rear sway bar deals with handling (minimizes the softness of the rear end when cornering) and again, not chassis stiffness.
A rear strut brace (fits across the top of the shock towers) may have some benefits but I would think the CV would be adquately braced back there since it is not a hatch.
Other than adding a roof, as you say, or welding in a full roll cage, I don't think there is much that can be done. Others may prove me wrong with their experiences of their CVs.
