1 your emergency brake could need resetting. it could be dragging on the wheels.

2 is there cargo in the trunk?

3 is your air filter clean? don't go by what they charged you for, check it yourself.

4 check your tire pressure. should be 34 psi +/- 1 (US... i don't know the british units)

5 you are not a bad driver. how are is work though? if it's less than 4 miles. your car probably never gets warm on the way to work. and you idle in the driveway and at stop signs for half that time (0 mpg( so the average is 12 between the 0 and the ... 24? i know you said 5 doesn't apply to your driving habbits, but i think you meant your not a lead foot so i am still checking with you that you are not a safe idel short trip driver which would get you 12mpg in any car on average.

6 did this just happen in winter?gas stations change their formula in winter. your car may not be liking your local station's new formula?

7 are you leaking fuel? are you sure?
