Hey guys,

Here is a weird one. '99 9-3. For the last few years my car has occasionally made a front end suspension "pop" over certain kinds of bumps, I would say it happens on average once every 1-2 weeks. Sounds like metal giving way over metal - "pop". Comes from behind the dash either in the firewall or strut-tower area...and sometimes I can actually feel the vibration. Seems like its from the center of the car and left. Doesn't seem to come from the right. The car has gotten new shocks, springs, strut mounts, and strut bearings along the way.


Here is the weird part. Once in a while it will make this same exact noise (and I feel the vibration was well) when I start the car....like the vibration from the engine first starting is enough to cause it. This makes me think it may not be a purely suspension related thing.

Anyway, any ideas as to what this odd noise could be would be appreciated. Thanks!
