hi guys,
just did this with my '97 900, I didn't have a switch available so I scavenged my tape adapter. (Hey, if it works I'll never have to use it again, right?) 6 screws to take the thing apart, pull the electronics and gears, put it back together to use as a dummy load in the tape player. Removed the solder connections and moved the stereo mini cable to the points Dmitri kindly points out in his guide. I managed to swap left and right channel on my first attempt, pulled the unit back out and corrected in under 20 mins. Works just like a normal tape player, except better--no gear noise from the dummy tape adapter and great clean audio from the line in.
I did notice the other day that if I have the iPod plugged into 12v power, I get a lot of interference. I wonder if that's the cable or something to do with power delivery?
