Central locking gremlin...where to start? Posted by Peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Peter) on Fri, 9 Mar 2007 07:50:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello,
Recently the central locking system in my 1997 900set 5-dr auto (95K miles) has been acting up. It started with the passenger lock occasionally not locking last fall.
Now, the gas cap sometimes won't unlock, the doors don't lock when the ignition is turned on, and the console switch doesn't actuate the locks (there is, however, a sort of quiet grunting noise that sounds like the lock is trying to work but doesn't have enough juice...).
The final symptom: the hatch button on the driver's door sometimes doesn't work.
The key fob actuator still works, although it won't lock all the doors all the time. If I hit the fob actuator 3 or 4 times, all the doors usually lock, but it seems like some day soon I'm going to be back to a manual locking system...the horror!
Basically, the system is no longer working like a system. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look at first? I'm hoping there's some sort of module that is going haywire, but perhaps that's just wishful thinking...
Thanks in advance,
Peter
