Replaced my OEM rear swaybar on my '01 9-3 with the 22mm from GenuineSaab.com and I am amazed at the improvement to the car's handling. It is a bit baffling that Saab engineers made the choice to install such a flimsy swaybar at the rear (the OEM bar felt like a coat hanger).
Having purchased this car to replace a '95 9000 Aero, it was immediately noticeable how poorly the 9-3 handled in comparison to the Aero. Unlike the Aero, it cornered horribly, with excessive roll and exibited understear that sometimes scared me (particularly, high speed cornering).
With the upgrade the excessive rolling is gone. The car is as solid - maybe even more so - as the Aero. No I can point the car in a direction, and it goes as I intended it to. The car now feels like I expect from a Saab.
And, is it possible that this upgrade improves overall driveability of the car? It seem the car is smoother of the line and my gear shifts smoother???
At $90 and no more than an hour of work, I highly recommend this upgrade to fellow 9-3 owner who have not done so already.
