Well, most people don't have plastigauge laying around (you take the bearing caps off put the plastigauge in and retorque the caps, take the caps back off and check it by the paper the plastigauge comes on you can tell by how far it has flatened how much clearance there is) so if you are under the car with the wheels on both sides of you looking up at the motor, the crank runs left to right. There are main bearings and rod bearings, the mains are the ones that are on the engine block that don't revolve with the crank and rod/piston assy. the rod bearing are the ones that rotate with the crank that are hooked to the rods which are hooked to the pistons. Ok,your down there looking up at the bottom of the motor the way that the bearings clearances are to be checked are from you feet to your head if that makes sense, not left to right.
But if I were you I would try what Dean says first then if it comes to it pull the pan again and cross your fingers.
crossing mine for ya! Jason
