I did the Platonoff line in conversion and it works like a charm!! Very easy online instructions on how to tap into your stock cassette deck L and R channels. It requires 1/2 hour, $10 in Radio Shack parts and a soldering iron. Go to photo(dot)platonoff(dot)com for instructions with pics. That would be the 'NG900 Line Input' section. Of course you are removing your stock cassette player and partially disassembling it, not to mention soldering on the board, so I'm sure there are risks involved. I'm a bumbling monkey with a soldering iron and still achieved perfect results.
This is a direct link between your ipod and the 'tape' audio input. There is no background noise like you normally have with cassette adapters. Just hit 'tape' on your stock stereo system and it's there! Another advantage is that you can use your stereo's bass, treble, fade, etc... This conversion supposedly also allows you to play normal analog cassettes though I have not bothered to try this.
