Synthetic vs. Conventional Oil

I know there has been a number of postings as to which grade of oil is better for any given engine, but I was wondering...
In my 1999 9-3 2.0 convertible 5 speed manual with 65k miles if I can switch to synthetic motor oil. The owners manual says 10w 30 conventional, which I have done since day one. However I also have a 2001 9-5 2.3 5 speed that requires synthetic oil only. It would be nice to be able to buy only one type in bulk instead of various types a few quarts at a time.
