I recommend using a good 5W-40 or 0W-40 in both.
It would be a good idea to use a good engine flush (such as AMSOIL or BG) in your 9-3 before putting in the synthetic. However, if you don't, or won't, flush, just drop in the new oil and charge. Keep an eye on the level. If you note a sudden increase in oil consumption after a couple thousand miles, change the oil filter and top off.
