Do yourself a favor and remove the siren to fix the battery issue sooner than later...
The first message for me popped up a month or so ago, and by searching here I knew the whole replace the battery thing. I ordered the replacement batteries from Mouser, and they've been sitting in the kitchen for weeks.
I was all set to pull the siren today, leisurely, but I had to take quick action last night as the thing would just not shut up. It went off six or seven times in a row. I even pulled fuse 35 (DICE/TWICE), and it still wouldn't shut up. So, I started the car --siren is blaring--, turned the wheel as far as possible towards the passenger side of the car and proceeded to loosen the mud flap bolts and forcibly peel the wheel well liner back. Long story short... I got to the siren (and it is indeed behind the driver wheel towards the rear of the car) way up high, and finally managed to pop the pigtail connector off the back of the siren with a socket extension.
I was so close to cutting the wires, and practically ready to kill the car.
So, word to the wise. Address the issue sooner than later. I will be removing the siren at a more leisurely pace today to take it to the electronic shop, as I don't trust my soldering skills on a circuit board. <Thanks for the vent...>
Best regards,
Don
