some warning lights and their meaning Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Fri, 5 Oct 2007 21:35:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sorry to sound ignorant but this is my first NG900 with activated warning lights. I picked this car up for a few hundred bucks and I'm trying to sort some of the engine issues out. I have the "central warning light" on, with no speedometer. I'm guessing the rear sensor or even a crappy ABS system all together. BUT, I just realized that I have never seen the oil pressure warning light come on. The ABS light never comes on...ever. This central warning thing can be useful, I suppose, but a warning light that can indicate just about anything seems a bit silly, unless it is a secondary warning that should always be accompanied by the particular, specific warning light. Is this the case? Should I assume that I have some blown dash bulbs? The car sounds like It either has a super sloppy chain issue (I've checked and the timing chain looks fine) or some low end damage. The car idles great - quiet up to about 2000 RPM - then the rattle begins, and it sounds low in the engine. There was plenty of oil in the car when I got it, no evidence or any engine leaks other than at the distributor plug. I plan on diving into the engine tomorrow to see if a replacement would be better than a rebuild, but figured I see if the engine actually had decent oil pressure first.
Ok, that was long winded but a serious explanation as to the functioning of the central warning light would be much appreciated. As well, is this something that requires a tech 2 to reset if, say, the light is on due to oil...as I'm assuming the SRS functions like on 9000s where a tech2 is needed.
Thanks everyone.
