On a 12 year old engine? they may be frozen in place, did you soak them overnight with something like PB blaster?
Try a breaker bar instead of a ratchet - longer for better leverage and no mechanism inside it to break under pressure. or even a breaker with a pipe added. Slow, light and steady.
I show the following in the B258 manual re: torque:
"Cylinder head, step I: 18.5 lb ft.
Step II: Tighten to 90 (degrees)
Step III: tighten to 90 (degrees)
Step IV: tighten to 90 (degrees)"
For removal it states:
"Undo the cylinder head bolts in the order shown. First slacken them a 1/4 turn and then 1/2 turn. Lift off the cylinder head ..."
